The public defender is Mark Tarantino, Esq. This court hears traffic and speeding tickets, marijuana possession and Millstone DWI charges. Juvenile arrests in Millstone are referred to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Millstone Township is located in the southwestern section of Monmouth County. It should not be confused with Millstone Borough located in Somerset County. The municipality was formed and incorporated in 1844 from parts of Freehold and Upper Freehold Townships, as well as sections of Monroe Township in Middlesex County. The latter were returned in 1845.
The total area registered by the Census Bureau is 37.2 square miles virtually all of it land. As per the 2010 census, there were 10,566 residents, up from 8,970 in 2000. The population density was high and 82% rural. There were 2,426 families and 2,797 housing units in 2000. Renters represent 4% versus 34% statewide. Unofficial figures place the median contract rent for apartments in 2008 at $1,071 and the estimated median house or condo value at $680,602. In 2000, it was $325,200.
As of the 2000 census, the median family income was $106,116 and the per capita income $58,285. Male median income was about 48% higher than that of females ($74,333 versus $50,036). The median household income was $104,561. It rose to $120,679 as per unofficial data. Approximately 4.9% of the population was below the poverty level.
Out of the 2,708 households recorded in the 2000 census, 52.8% had minors living with them. More than two thirds (81.4%) of the households were composed of married couples living together. Households made up of non-families were 10.4%.
The median age was 37 years at the time of the 200 census. The age breakdown was 32.8% under 18 31.7% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 6.0% 65 years of age or older.
The most common ancestries are Italian (25.5%), Irish (16.5%), German (11.8%), Polish (11.7%), English (4.1%), American (3.5%), and Russian (2.4%). The ethnic composition as of the 2000 census was 97.83% White and 3.51% Hispanic or Latino of any race. The most usual places of birth of foreign-born residents are Germany (10%), Philippines (10%), Egypt (8%), India (8%), Italy (7%), Greece (6%), and Canada (5%).
The 2010 data for highest educational level of residents age 25 and over reveal that 5.55% did not complete high school versus 22.88% who did. Those with some college or associate's degree represented 26.93%. Holders of a bachelor's degree were 29.04% versus 20.65% statewide. Those with a graduate degree were 15.61% versus 12.05% statewide.
Most males engage in construction (17%), agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting (16%), transportation equipment (12%) and public administration (7%). Females work in educational services (19%), food industry (10%), health care (8%), and public administration (8%).
